SavignyFollowing victory against Eelevar CC 24 hours earlier, the Thoisers were under pressure to make it two wins from two on another damp Sunday afternoon. However, fielding first, it was Thoiry who were putting the opposition under pressure from the very start. Sensing technical weaknesses on the front foot, Dilip (7-34-1) and Tabreez (7-27-3) bowled an aggressive full-length and attacked th stumps, reaping early rewards. With the opposition struggling to score they were relieved to see th end of Dilip and Tabreez.

Nevertheless, Thoiry’s change bowlers followed up with some extremely accurate bowling to keep the run rate down and wickets continued to tumble. Abraham (7-21-0), Ali (7-20-2), Tyson (4-21-1), and Jon T (3-16-0) , backed up by some excellent ground fielding which yielded two run outs (Manoj and Tyson), helped to restrict Savigny CC to 149-9 from their 35 overs.

The Thoiry innings started positively with a brisk opening partnership of 37 between Jon T (13) and Hussan (23). Always ahead of the run rate, the 3rd wicket partnership between Arjun (32*) and Manoj (34*) kept the scoreboard ticking over with some good running and the occasional boundary.

Requiring only 24 more runs to win from the remaining 12 overs Thoiry’s charge to victory was only halted by the rain which forced play to be abandoned. However, a quick Duckworth Lewis calculation completed Thoiry’s weekend double !
