vs Challengers C.C. 8 April 2017

A TALE OF TWO TONS

Once again the sun shone on the “Thoisers” as they prepared to play a “Double Header” of T/20 matches against our friends Challengers C.C

In the morning game, Thoiry won the Toss and elected to bat, making 199 for 6 in their allotted overs. Saravanan scored a creditable half-century (51), ably aided by Hamad (33) and Pragash (29 n.o.)

In return the Challengers could only muster 152 for 6, with Satish taking 3 wickets and Pragsah 2.

A comfortable win that left the boys eager to sample “Tea” prepared by Manoj, Abraham and Satish. Thanks to them for their efforts, which were obviously appreciated, as there was little left for latecomers!

And so to the afternoon match!  Captaining for the first time, Hussan won the toss again, and, Tyson, opening with a new partner in Jithu swiftly moved the scoreboard on to 38 for 0, after only two overs!

He continued in a rich vein of form, and was assisted, first by Dilip, straight from last week’s Hospital bed, whose huge six over square leg served as an excellent advertisement for the Osteopath’s Profession, and then followed by Manoj (28), and a quick fire cameo from Cameron (18 n.o.) to take Thoiry to a healthy 241 for 4 off their 20 overs.

And should Tyson be mentioned again?

He hogged most of the bowling, but thanks to Cameron’s unselfish little single of the fifth ball of the last over, just managed to reach his 150 not out of the very last ball of the innings!

Talk about leaving it late!!!!!!

Challengers were however undismayed by such a large total to chase, and set about their task with gusto! Thanks to a large degree by the Thoiry habit of dropping catches, Challengers’ Hussman made an unbeaten Ton, but all in vain, as their final score was 201 for 5.

Thoiry’s ground fielding was excellent, and it was that that brought about the win, as many twos and fours were kept down to singles. Alas, the Challengers worked out too late that the safest place to hit the ball was IN THE AIR!! (Nine dropped catches!).

Still, a day’s cricket with 800 runs scored can’t be all bad, so congratulations to the Thoiry boys for two excellent wins!

Man of the Match: Tyson, who else?

Champagne Moment – Pragash giving Hamad his house keys, only to see him drive off with them in his pocket, forcing Pragash to spend the night at his Mother in Law’s house!!
